Area Police
Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police say they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found many other marked automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any harm in connection with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
A senior political figure stated the incident left him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
